What's Gobbling Up
Your Meeting Time?
Don’t allow
interruptions to gobble up your meeting time! Closing doors, holding
telephone calls, turning off beepers and cell phones so that all
participants apply full attention to the meeting makes more
efficient use of meeting time.
When you block
interruptions, you send the message of respect to participants that
they are the most important people to you at this time and
that the purpose of this meeting is important.
Many of us are not
even aware of how addicted we are to interruptions. Getting up for
coffee, holding side conversations, and even leaving the room are
interruptions that eat up time.
You may want to either be more
intentional about avoiding interruptions or allow more meeting time
to embrace them.
"Decide what your priorities are and
how much time you'll spend on them.
If you don't someone else will."
--Harvey Mackay
